[ About us ] About Us After spending more than 30 years in the United States Chin Manasmontri, a well known designer of Nantucket Lightship Baskets and Sailor's Valentines, returned to Thailand and in 2002 established Mairood Resort. The Resort is designed to offer not only accommodations but also Asian cuisine, crafts making, fishing, delicious fresh foods, and a clean and quiet environment. Mr. Manasmontri, your host, is a man of many talents. Fluent in English, he spent many years dividing his time between Florida and the vacation Island of Nantucket. During those years he worked both as a professional chef and a successful artist, eventually opening his own restaurant.
Fascinated by the traditional crafts of his adopted island home, Chin became both a master weaver of world famous Nantucket Lightship Baskets, and a sought after designer of Sailors' Valentines, created using tiny, delicate sea shells. He can often be found in his studio at Mairood Resort at work on his crafts. |
